Hunky Dory Social Club

likes

. multi-level bar gives you options: dj, lounge or terrace
. friendly and unpretentious bar staff 

dislikes

. we really wanted food, but there was little standing space so no chance of that happening on saturday night
. ridiculously tiny font on the cocktail menu meant we ordered good ol' g+t

go for

. chilled drinks on the terrace in the arvo
. something in between a club or lounge, with a bit of attitude

Downtown, The Commons

likes

. crazy-delicious food at the restaurant. will be heading back there for more than a cheese plate really really soon.
. live jazz/blues from the two guys in the corner

dislikes

. bartenders in a grump, that's no fun
. the wooden stools (at the restaurant and bar) are super uncomfortable. the morning after the night before my feet dont hurt, my head doesnt hurt but my butt sure does!

go for

. a really memorable meal at the restaurant and some cosy cocktails afterwards
. chilled out evening with some cool tunes

. food and wine perfection (sample menu here). 
. everything we ate and drank was excellent, cant wait to come back again
. long and narrow layout with bar vibe at the front and more comfortable restaurant-style at the back.

dislikes

. it's always busy, but that's cause they're so good!

go for

. excellent food and wine in a really comfortable wine bar (no tiny stools here!)

. interesting and original laundry theme fit out

. love the idea of the homemade cordials

. a stone's throw from the Pines if you decide to kick on

. the seating wasn't particularly comfortable or cosy, might become an issue if you're planning on a longer stay

go for

. rock N' roll bingo on Tuesday night, everyone else is!
. great value drinks and a food menu (including a plowman's platter) that sounds wonderful

. menus are printed in a pale colour and I sound like an oldie, but they are impossible to read! so you'll just have to chat to the bartender instead ;)
